Hiking
For walkers in particular, the Rhön provides an unimaginable range of opportunities for experiencing an amazing landscabe. The region as 21 approved circular trails known as “Extratouren” next to the HOCHRHÖNER Premium trail.
Cycling/e-biking
The Gersfelder Hof is the ideal start for your bike tour by mountain bike or e-bike. There are plenty of well constructed cycle paths to guide cyclists through an area rich in vegetation and species. You´ll find tips and suggested routes in our flyers “Radwanderwege in der Rhön”

A warm welcome awaits you in The Rhön. Panoramic views across swathes of unwooded land are a highlight. Idyllic places with some impressive history and culinary specialities await you.
Air sports
In summer paragliders and gliding enthusiasts dominate activities on the Wasserkuppe. Wasserkuppe is the highest mountain of the Rhön, is known to be the “Birthplace of Gliding”. The huge gliding centre with its airfiled and museum as well as the Radon is also a point of interest for visitors.
Winter in the Rhön
When the snow begins to fall Wasserkuppe becomes the winter sports hub of the Rhön. Rotes Moor (Red Marsh) is the ideal setting for cross country skiers with its ski centre and some 60 km of cross country tracks.
Golfing
within a radius of 20-40 km there are 18-hole golf courses where you can meet pure nature with a wonderfully beautiful view of the Rhön.
Fishing
with a fishing permit you could spend time at several hot spots and observe the animal species that live on the banks of lakes and rivers.
Climbing
In the immediate vicinity of the Hotel Gersfelder Hof there is an impressive rock face called Steinwand. Climbers can put their skills to the test here.
